While honoree Stephen Sondheim is enough of an attraction for the upcoming Carl Sandburg Literary Award dinner this fall, I’ve learned the names of some other high-profile author types who will be on hand to host tables at the Oct. 21 fete at the Forum at the UIC.
One of the nice aspects of this intellectually focused benefit for the Chicago Public Library Foundation is the ability of event supporters to get to know a prominent writer with ties to our city.
This year more than 70 notable authors will be on hand including President Obama’s campaign and White House strategist David Axelrod, who recently published his “Believer: My Forty Years in Politics” memoir; Saul Bellow biographer James Atlas; celebrity chef and cookbook author Rick Bayless; New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Berg; artist and educator Nick Cave; “Nero Wolfe” mysteries author Robert Goldsborough; advice columnist and author Margo Howard; renowned theologian Martin Marty; mystery novelist Sara Paretsky; lawyer and legal thriller writer Scott Turow, and Ides of March founder Jim Peterik.
