To mark the centennial this winter of Frank Sinatra’s birth, the Public Chicago Hotel — joined by Our Town’s own Tom Dreesen — are planning a huge celebration of Ol’ Blue Eyes’ 100th birthday at the Pump Room.

The hotel, known in Sinatra’s days as the Ambassador East, and its legendary Pump Room restaurant were, in many ways, the iconic singer’s Chicago “home away from home.”

Dreesen, joined by the Public Chicago’s general manager David Miskit, will announce on Sept. 24 the details of the hotel’s official celebration planned for Dec. 12.

In preparation for all that, the hotel will announce its nightly “Sinatra Toast,” which Dreesen will initiate in his own words at the Sept. 24 event. The Harvey native and comedian was Sinatra’s longtime opening act and spent many evenings — often into the wee hours — with Sinatra as he sipped his famed drink of choice: Jack Daniels on the rocks. The bourbon distiller will be partnering with Public Chicago for the upcoming “Sinatra Toast” in the Pump Room Bar — which now will become a regular tradition in the bar.
