From the city that makes no small plans comes this news: “All Our Tragic,” The Hypocrites’ monumental world premiere production of all 32 of the surviving Greek tragedies, will not only continue performances through Oct. 5 at The Den Theatre, 1329-1333 N. Milwaukee, but the company already has plotted the return of director-adapter Sean Graney’s 12-hour marathon theatrical event. The production will be remounted at The Den, running June-Aug. 2015, and it is expected that most of the 23 original cast members will reprise their roles.

The remount will feature 16 marathon days (Saturdays and Sundays only, with a 12-hour commitment that includes multiple intermissions, meal breaks with food provided and a cash bar). Tickets will go on sale Oct. 1 at http://www.the-hypocrites.com.

The current ensemble includes: Breon Arzell, Erin Barlow, Will Bennett, Ryan Bourque, Walter Briggs, Geoff Button, Kate Carson-Groner, Emily Casey, Tien Doman, Lindsey Gavel, Danny Goodman, Rashaad Hall, Christopher James, Maximilian Lapine, Danny Martinez, Luce Metrius, Erin Myers, Dana Omar, Kevin Matthew Reyes, Christine Stulik, Zeke Sulkes, John Taflan and Lauren Vogel.

From the most popular titles to the most rarely produced works, this amalgam of Greek tragedies by Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides features a quirky, colloquial approach to storytelling and is set against a contemporary backdrop. It has been designed to create a contemporary Festival of Dionysus, akin to the ancient gatherings for which these tragedies were originally crafted, and to bring together a community to bond, eat food, drink wine and discuss complicated topics of society that have faced man since the creation of civilization.

Remaining performances of the current run are: Friday, 9/26 at 8 pm (Part 3); Saturday, 9/27 at 11 am (full show); Sunday, 9/28 at 11 am (full show); Monday, 9/29 at 8 pm (Part 4); Friday, 10/3 at 8 pm (Part 4); Saturday, 10/4 at 11 am (full show); and Sunday, 10/5 at 11 am (full show). Tickets: Fridays and Mondays: $15 each. Saturdays and Sundays: $75-90. Most marathon performances are currently sold out. Single tickets are available at http://www.the-hypocrites.com.

Following its original Chicago run, Graney and the cast of “All Our Tragic will travel to Los Angeles for a week-long reading of the production at the prestigious Getty Villa, part of the J. Paul Getty Museum. The educational center and museum is dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome and Etruria.
