Laura Bush has been named the recipient of the 2015 “Person of Vision Award” by the Prevent Blindness organization. The award will be presented to the former first lady at the Person of Vision Dinner, being held Nov. 5 at the Drake Hotel in Streeterville.
In a statement, Prevent Blindness president and CEO Hugh R. Parry said, “Today, with leaders such as former first lady Laura Bush, we continue that legacy of providing resources that save sight and promote healthy vision across the lifespan. We want to honor [Mrs. Bush] for her tireless efforts to improve the lives of our children through enriching literacy and educational programs and advocating for vision care to be part of the strategy.”
Prevent Blindness, founded in 1908, is the nation’s leading volunteer eye health and safety organization dedicated to fighting blindness and saving sight.
