Mika Brzezinski, the co-anchor of “Morning Joe” on MSNBC, will be in Chicago this coming weekend — both to participate in the NBC News-sponsored “Know Your Value” event and to join Christie Hefner in hosting a reception for a local installation of her mother Emilie Brzezinski’s monumental wood sculpture.
• The reception for Emilie Brzezinski will take place at the Society for Arts/1112 Gallery, 1112 N. Milwaukee, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The artist reception and book signing will be for “Old Medium, New Tools: A Contemporary Wood Sculpture Exhibit,” featuring four contemporary sculpture installations, including two previously showcased in Florence, Italy, and in Washington, D.C.
• Among those joining Brzezinski at the “Know Your Value” event Friday at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile Hotel will be U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.); Sheri Salata, president, Oprah Winfrey Network; Alison Levin, team captain, American Women’s Everest Expedition; Nicolle Wallace, former White House Communications Director, NBC-5 anchor Zoraida Sambolin, Redbook editor-in-chief Meredith Rollins and Brezinski’s “Morning Joe” co-anchor, Joe Scarborough.
The event speakers and guests will participate in a variety of interactive panels, exploring the tools of negotiating for promotions, maintaining relationships and communicating effectively through body language and personal style.
