New twist on ‘Bachelor’/’Bachelorette’ franchise

ABC has come up with yet another way to keep their “Bachelor”/”Bachelorette” dating show franchises refreshed. Now comes “Bachelor in Paradise,” which will feature a bunch of very familiar faces — and bodies.

Set to premiere at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4 — here’s the series’ premise:

They are bringing back 25 of some of the most memorable and controversial contestants from previous seasons of either “The Bachelor” or “The Bachelorette.”

It all will take place in Tulum on Mexico’s Maya Riviera coast, south of Cancun.

For the first episode 14 contestants will be included — eight women and six men. At the first rose ceremony those half-dozen guys will be given a rose to present to a woman they’d want to keep on the show. That means two women will be eliminated. The next week, two more men will be added to the show, with the reverse taking place. They will alternate between the men and women being added each week.

Those with local connections to the show will be three returning “Bachelor”/”Bachelorette” contestants, including Christy Hansen from Season 18 of “The Bachelor” (Juan Pablo), Cody Sattler from Season 10 of “The Bachelorette” (Andi), and Chris Bukowski from Season 8 of “The Bachelorette” (Emily) and Season 3 of “Bachelor Pad.”

Now based in Washington, D.C., Bukowski, of course, is memorable for lasting pretty long in his earlier “The Bachelorette” run, plus his so-called “crashing” of the show this current season.
