Will the Joffrey Ballet be traveling to New York early this spring to perform its superb production of Krzysztof Pastor’s “Romeo and Juliet” at Lincoln Center?

That is the buzz. When asked for confirmation of the plans a source at the Joffrey said only: “This is in the works, but a contract has not been signed, so nothing is official.”

Stay tuned. The ballet, just performed at the Auditorium Theatre, would be an ideal showcase for the company, and a perfect way to wrap up celebrations of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. And of course all eyes will be on the company even before any New York visit as it unwraps “The Nutcracker,” the world premiere by choreographer Christopher Wheeldon set to open at the Auditorium Theatre on Dec. 10.
