Samantha Bee, the longtime correspondent on “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, has been tapped to host her own show on TBS. This new deal — announced Thursday — comes shortly after TBS announced Bee and her husband, Jason Jones, would create and executive produce a new scripted comedy series at the network.

This new show, with Bee and Jones as executive producers, is being described in a TBS release as a “platform for Bee to apply her smart and satirical point of view to current and relevant issues.”

While Bee has exited her more regular role at Comedy Central, it was announced that she will continue to do occasional pieces on “The Daily Show” until production beings on the new, as-yet-untitled comedy series she’s created with her husband. That is expected to begin this summer, with the show launching in the fourth quarter of this year.

TBS has given a 10-episode order for the scripted series that is inspired by Bee and Jones’ own experiences with family trips. Jones will star as the head of a family taking a road trip to Florida. Also in the cast are Natalie Zea (“Justified,” “The Following”), Ashley Gerasimovich (“Louie,” “We Need to Talk about Kevin”) and Liam Carroll (“The Neighbors”).
