Special send-off for Miss Illinois

There will be a an evening of musical entertainment — including opera and musical theater performances as Miss Illinois 2014 Marisa Buchheit gets her official send-off to the Miss America Pageant.

The traditional competition and ceremony will take place to name the Miss America 2015 in Atlantic City, N.J. on Sept. 14.

The Chicago celebration will take place between 7 and 10 p.m. Friday at PianoForte Chicago, 1335 S. Michigan. The event is a benefit for the Children’s Miracle Network.

The Miss America Pageant will be broadcast on WLS-Channel 7 on Sunday, Sept. 14.

Iran fires air defense batteries in provinces as explosions are heard near Isfahan
