Toronto International Film Festival: Sept 5 is ‘Bill Murray Day’

When Bill Murray isn’t golfing in PBR pants or proffering life wisdom at bachelor parties or showing up at ice cream socials, he’s busy being his inimitable self on movie screens in such features as The Monuments Men and The Grand Budapest Hotel, to name a couple of his recent projects. Future flicks include St. Vincent, Rock the Kasbah and Disney’s live-action Jungle Book (he’s Baloo the Bear, of course).

In light of all that and more, Deadline reports that organizers of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival have dubbed Sept. 5 Bill Murray Day. Besides hosting the world premiere of Murray’s St. Vincent, the TIFF folks also are screening (free to the public) three of the Wilmette-bred, Second City-trained star’s most popular comedies: Stripes, Groundhog Day and Ghostbusters, the latter of which marks its 30th anniversary with a special DVD release Sept. 16.
