A little more than 29 years ago, William “The Refrigerator” Perry graced the cover of “Sports Illustrated” alongside Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Ed “Too Tall” Jones.

The Chicago Bears and the Cowboys took the NFL to London in early August of 1986 for a preseason game. The Bears beat the Cowboys 17-6, with Perry scoring a touchdown in a game that was played in the pouring rain.

There’s been no shortage of SI covers for Chicago sports teams in the month of August over the years.

Last August, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler appeared on the magazine’s cover alongside Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford.

This week, the Chicago Cubs are featured on a regional cover due to their hot play the last 25 games.
