Every week of the 2015 Chicago Bears season, Chicago Sun-Times Sports will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1985 Bears by speaking with players from the team including Jimbo Covert, Dan Hampton, Dennis McKinnon and Otis Wilson.

Dennis McKinnon was a wide receiver on the 1985 Chicago Bears and in the below video told a story about why he was not in the famous ‘Super Bowl Shuffle’ video. McKinnon says it was all because of teammate and fellow wide receiver Willie Gault.

“Willie Gault was my roommate,” McKinnon said. “He was the guy who put together ‘The Super Bowl Shuffle.’ He never told me about it.

“For some reason a walk-on free agent and our number one draft pick were roommates. And the number one draft pick, for some reason, kept his roommate out of the deal so the focus would be on him. Maybe, I don’t know, I had a better year that year in terms of touchdowns and he felt threatened. But, I got screwed out of being in ‘The Super Bowl Shuffle’ by my own roommate.”
