The Bears’ first-round pick in 2007, Olsen spent the first four seasons of his career in Chicago with his best year coming in 2009, when he led the team with 60 receptions and eight touchdowns.

But when the Bears replaced offensive coordinator Ron Turner with Mike Martz in 2010, Olsen’s numbers dipped to 41 receptions and 5 touchdowns, and he was traded to the Panthers for a third-round pick.

With Olsen now excelling in Carolina, former Bears lineman Steve “Mongo” McMichael called Martz a “moron” for his misuse of the tight end.

Since the trade, Olsen has been one of the most productive tight ends in the NFL, and for the second consecutive season has eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving.

He leads the 17-1 Panthers with 77 receptions and seven touchdowns this season.
