In search of some kind of offensive spark after going without a goal in their last six regulation periods, the Blackhawks on Tuesday recalled Tanner Kero and sent Vinnie Hinostroza back to Rockford.
Kero has six goals and two assists in seven games with the IceHogs, and was just named the AHL player of the week. He was signed in April to a two-year contract after posting 20 goals and 26 assists in 41 games at Michigan Tech during his senior year, leading the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
Hinostroza played in four games with the Hawks, going without a point while centering Teuvo Teravainen and Ryan Garbutt on the third line.
The Hawks also are expected to call up a seventh defenseman before leaving for Winnipeg on Wednesday.
