A 35-year-old St. Charles man was killed and two people were injured when a sport-utility vehicle flipped over on Route 64 west of Elburn when the driver lost control just after 2 a.m. Saturday along a curve at Fabris Road in unincorporated Virgil Township and went off the road and rolled, according to the Kane County sheriff’s office.
David Drewes, a front-seat passenger in the Volkswagen Tiguan, was ejected from the vehicle and was dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office, which said he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.
The 39-year-old Maple Park man at the wheel also wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected, according to the sheriff’s office, which said he was flown by helicopter to Rockford Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
Drewes’ 36-year-old sister, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Kishwaukee Hospital with minor injuries. She and the driver had recently been married, the sheriff’s office said.
