11-year-old boy shot on Lower West Side

An 11-year-old boy was injured in a shooting Monday night on the Lower West Side.

The boy was sitting on the porch of a home in the 2000 block of South Western about 9:30 p.m. when he suffered an injury to his right arm that he thought was caused by an errant firework, according to Chicago Police.

He was taken to St. Anthony Hospital, where it was discovered that his wound was actually caused by gunfire, police said. He was listed in good condition.
