A 13-year-old girl was wounded Monday evening in a South Side shooting in the West Englewood neighborhood.

The teenager was standing outside at 7:54 p.m. in the 7400 block of South Ashland when she heard shots and felt pain, according to Chicago Police. She had been shot in the thigh.

The girl was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where her condition stabilized, police said.

Police initially said she was 14 years old.
