A 16-year-old girl was fatally stabbed Saturday evening in the South Side Parkway Gardens neighborhood.

Dekayla Danberry was stabbed in the upper chest after a fight broke out about 7:30 p.m. in the 6500 block of South King Drive, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The girl was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she died at 8:24 p.m., authorities said. Her home address was unknown.

Two people were taken into custody for questioning at the scene but were later released, police said. No charges were pending Sunday morning.

Police initially said the girl was 15.
