Off-duty Chicago Police officer hurt in fight outside River North club

Charges are pending against two people who got into a fight with two off-duty Chicago Police officers early Friday outside a River North nightclub.

About 2 a.m., the two officers – ages 32 and 25 – and a woman who was with them were walking out of the nightclub near LaSalle and Hubbard when three strangers walked up and the two groups began fighting, according to Chicago Police. Both officers were off duty.

Police initially reported that one of the cops was seriously injured — and that the woman was in critical condition after the fight.

Authorities later clarified the 32-year-old officer suffered injuries to his face and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.

The woman was not involved in the fight, but she suffered a “fainting spell” and was also taken to Northwestern, where her condition was stabilized, police said.

The 25-year-old officer — who ended up chasing the three suspects — suffered “no visible injuries” and refused medical attention.

Two of the three suspects were taken into custody Friday morning a few blocks away, police said. Charges against them were pending.
