Variety reports that the next British-to-America TV remake is … “Absolutely Fabulous”!

Jennifer Saunders (Edina, left) and Joanna Lumley (as Patsy) broke the mold as hedonistic vice-ridden middle-age chums in the BBC sitcom “Absolutely Fabulous.”

The Jennifer Saunders Britcom was a comedy staple for BBC from 1992 to ’95. Years ago, Roseanne Barr worked on developing a U.S. version of the show with Carrie Fisher for ABC.

The new Americanized version will be set in Los Angeles, with stars to be announced. Christine Zander (“Saturday Night Live”) is set to write the script, and Saunders is on board as a producer.
