Bulls waive Richard

SHARE Bulls waive Richard

The Bulls reduced their roster 14 on Thursday by waiving 6-9 forward Chris Richard.

Richard, a teammate of center Joakim Noah at Florida, played in six games this preseason and averaged 3.5 points and 5.3 rebounds in 19.7 minutes.

The loss of Richard means the Bulls will have no more than 12 healthy players at the start of the season because of injuries to Aaron Gray (lower leg stress fracture) and Jerome James (recovering from Achilles surgery).

That number could be reduced to 11 if guard Derrick Byars doesn’t make it to the opening-day roster.
