WASHINGTON–Plans for an elaborate outdoor arrival ceremony for Indian Prime Minister Singh on Tuesday on the South Lawn were scuttled because of poor weather. Instead, the ceremony will be in the East Room of the White House.
Due to bad weather, this morning’s arrival ceremony has been moved to the East Room. It is expanded pool press.

In the morning, the President and the First Lady will welcome Prime Minister Singh of India and Mrs. Kaur to the White House. The arrival ceremony will be held on the South Lawn. This is open press and will be live streamed on www.WhiteHouse.gov/live.
The President and the Prime Minister will then hold a bilateral meeting in the Oval Office. They will then hold an expanded bilateral meeting in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.
President Obama and Prime Minister Singh will then hold a joint news conference in the East Room. This event is open press, but all riser positions have been allocated. It will be live streamed on www.WhiteHouse.gov/live.
In the afternoon, the President will hold separate meetings with his senior advisors, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Secretary of Defense Gates and the Vice President in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.
In the evening, the President and First Lady will greet Prime Minister Singh and Mrs. Kaur on their arrival for the State Dinner. The arrival at the North Portico is pooled for television and open to correspondents and still photographers. The President and First Lady will host a State Dinner in honor of Prime Minister Singh and Mrs. Kaur on the South Lawn.
