We all say things we don’t mean from time to time.
“Sure, I’d love to go to your son’s piano recital,” or “No, no, you take the last slice of pizza, I’ve had enough already.”
So maybe and (hopefully) star quarterback Matthew Stafford’s comments fall into that category. I mean, how else would you explain someone wanting to go to the Detroit Lions?
I’m being completely honest, and it has nothing to do with money–I would love to go to Detroit, Stafford said in the Sports Illustrated story. My friends say, ‘C’mon, gimme a break.’ But I’m a competitive guy. The Lions have passionate fans, a great stadium, and I’d be throwing to the biggest freak (Calvin Johnson), with the most talent, of any receiver in the NFL.
Stafford has a very good chance to get his wish, as the Lions hold the top pick in the draft and are said to be in the market for a new signal-caller. Among many other things.
Good luck, Matthew. Love the optimism. Just don’t share it.
