DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR

Tomorrow morning, President Obama will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing, the Economic Daily Briefing and meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

Later in the morning, the President and Vice President will introduce his Commerce Secretary nominee in the Indian Treaty Room. This event will be will be pooled TV, but otherwise open press.

In the afternoon, the President will meet with members of the Democratic leadership in Congress. This will be closed press.

Later in the afternoon, the President will meet with Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and the chairmen and ranking members of the Senate Banking Committee and the House Financial Services Committee in the Oval Office. The meeting will be closed press. Following the meeting, President Obama will discuss the critical need for financial regulatory reform in the Diplomatic Reception Room. This will be pooled press.

In the evening, the President and First Lady will host “Stevie Wonder In Performance at the White House: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize” to showcase an evening of celebration at the White House in honor of musician Stevie Wonder’s receipt of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. The event will take place in the East Room and will be pooled press. Important coverage details are listed at the bottom of this message.

Also tomorrow, state school superintendents from around the country will meet with Vice President Joe Biden, Dr. Jill Biden and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan to discuss the implementation of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. Immediately following the meeting at approximately 4:00PM, Secretary Duncan and superintendents will stop by the stake out location.

Coverage Details about “Stevie Wonder In Performance at the White House: The Library of Congress Gershwin Prize”

The 60-minute program, to be taped by WETA Washington, DC, will air Thursday, February 26, 2009, at 8:00PM ET on PBS stations nationwide. The concert will include performances by Wonder himself and Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Martina McBride, Esperanza Spalding, Will.i.am, and the gospel duo Mary Mary, among others. President Obama will confer the Gershwin Prize upon Wonder during the event.

WETA will feed the event live to the press briefing room for non-pool coverage. Feed is in clear and will be available Wednesday, February 25, 2009, 7:30PM ET (live broadcast).
