Detroit Pistons' 'Single Ladies' parody a real court jester

If there are two things in this world I love about the same amount, it’s the Detroit Pistons and anything associated with Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” dance.

So you can imagine how excited I was when — through the magic of Facebook — this Detroit Free Press story was brought to my attention this morning. It chronicles rise of a very popular video sweeping Pistons nation that features the team’s mascot, Hooper, doing a parody of Miss Knowles captivating gyrations.

One guy seems particularly excited about it, though.

A lot of people have said it’s the greatest thing they’ve ever seen, said Diane Ferranti, the Pistons’ vice president of multimedia. I think it just cracks people up and it strikes people as so funny. It’s just the unexpected, I think. Our mascot and two Spare Tires are doing what this beautiful 20-something girl has put up there and they’re copying that.

This statement reveals that most Pistons fans haven’t seen a tremendous amount of great things in their time and that they probably also missed the Justin Timberlake parody on “Saturday Night Live.”

Glad they’re having fun though.
