DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR

THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 2010

In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. The President will then meet separately with senior advisors and Secretary of Veterans Affairs Shinseki in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

Later, the President will deliver brief remarks on the financial crisis responsibility fee in the Diplomatic Reception Room. The remarks are pooled press.

The President and the Vice President will have lunch in the Private Dining Room. This lunch is closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will deliver remarks at the opening session of the Forum on Modernizing Government in the South Court Auditorium in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. This event is pooled press. The forum will bring private sector and federal government leaders together to discuss new ways to use technology to streamline government operations, improve customer service, and maximize returns on information technology investments. Following the opening session, senior administration officials will host discussions on the technology gap between the public and private sectors, and what government can do to bridge that gap. The opening and closing sessions of the forum, as well as all five discussions, will be streamed live on www.WhiteHouse.gov/live.

The President will then receive the Economic Daily Briefing and meet with Secretary of the Treasury Geithner in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

In the evening, the President will deliver remarks at the House Democratic Caucus retreat at the Capitol Visitors Center. The President’s remarks are pooled press.

Also tomorrow at 11:30AM EST, Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra and Norm Eisen, Special Counsel to the President for ethics and government reform, will hold a joint online video chat on how the Obama Administration has been changing Washington. The chat is part of a week where www.WhiteHouse.gov has been examining what the Administration has done over the past year, and where the Administration is heading on various issues.
