I had a fascinating talk with Lindsay Chadderton on Wednesday about how he went about doing the eDNA testing for Asian carp around Chicago waterways.
Chadderton is the aquatic invasive species director of The Nature Conservancy’s Great Lakes Project, and shown here, in a photo by Chris Jerde, taking water samples in downtown Chicago.
That conversation led to my outdoors column in the Sun-Times today.
It was discouraging.
The news was not good, as he reported he believed if they found eDNA, it mieant that a live speciman has been present there within the past 48 hours. As we know, it was announced Tuesday that eDNA of silver carp had been found out to Cal Harbor.
