SHARE Asian carp: Obama bigwigs to meet with governors

Preident Obama will have some bigwigs meet with several governors on the Asian carp issue on Feb. 8..

Here’s the word from the Executive Office of the President Council on Environmental Quality:

Obama Administration Officials to Meet with Great Lakes Governors Regarding Asian Carp on February 8, 2010 WASHINGTON – Nancy Sutley, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, and Obama Administration officials from the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of the Interior, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Coast Guard will meet with Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle, and Illinois Governor Pat Quinn on February 8, 2010 regarding Asian carp and the Great Lakes. The meeting will take place at 2:30 p.m. (EDT) at the White House. In a letter responding to Governors Granholm and Doyle on January 20, 2010, Sutley suggested a meeting during the first week of February to discuss strategies to combat the spread of Asian carp and ensure coordination and the most effective response across all levels of government.

The cynical side of me just thinks this is just what we need: more talk.

Then again, I am cynical enough about what action has been taken so far that maybe talk is the better option.
