Big Star adds hot chocolate, plantains to menu

Been waiting ’til the crowds die down to try out Big Star, Paul Kahan’s temple of tacos in the old Pontiac Cafe space in Wicker Park? You might as well just suck it up and go, because the recent announcement of new menu items isn’t likely to dull excitement. New for 2010 are plantain fries, served in thin strips with chile, lime juice, queso fresco and crema, and champurrado, or Mexican hot chocolate, which includes melted Mexican chocolate, cinnamon, anise, masa and piloncillo (Mexican brown sugar). Sorry, misanthropes.
