SHARE Report: Charlie Weis to become Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that recently ousted Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis has agreed to become the offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs.

His source says an announcement will come within the next 24 to 48 hours.

This would mean a reunion between Weis and Chiefs head coach Todd Haley, who spent time together as assistants for the New York Jets.

Charlie’s a guy I have a great amount of respect for as a coach, Haley said Wednesday at his final news conference of the season. He’s a coach that system-wise, I would say we’re as close as you can be. Charlie’s a guy I consider a friend and I’ve talked to throughout the year, no different from some of the other guys I lean on for things and advice.

The rumor mill had Weis interested in filling the same position with the Bears, but it looks like that’s not going to happen now.
