Jeff Jordan to transfer

Backup point guard Jeff Jordan has been granted his release and plans to transfer. The son of Bulls legend Michael Jordan also left the program a year ago, saying he wanted to concentrate on his schoolwork and life after college. He rejoined the team in the fall. But this time, he seems unlikely to return.

Jordan, who just completed his junior season, reportedly has been spending time at Central Florida, where his younger brother, Marcus, just completed his freshman season. Jeff Jordan had carved out a role as a defensive specialist in Champaign. But with the infusion of talent coach Bruce Weber is bringing in this fall, Jordan might have faced a reduced role.
