The line waiting to get into LaSalle Lake this morning stretched past the corner as the site staffer failed to open the gates until about 7:42 a.m.

LaSalle Lake (above on opening morning for fishing on March 17) may be the most problematic (in terms of being user-friendly and user-useful) of major northeast Illinois public sites.
The LaSalle County cooling lake in the middle of nowhere draws fishermen from all over northern and central Illinois.
The opening 1 hour and 42 minutes late is a new record for LaSalle, but late openings are a long-time problem there.
As are general issues with how the IDNR views the place of LaSalle in the bigger picture, but that is a story for another day.
In the meantime, I will try to track down what to do in future when the site staff fail to show to the gates at 6 a.m.
