Chicago jam band Umphrey’s McGee has been around more than 15 years and recently released its 12th album, “Death by Stereo,” and first for Dave Matthews’ ATO record label. In all that time, the sextet has developed a visually arresting stage production — but they’ve never made a video.

Until now. Today the band premieres its first video — for “Booth Love,” one of the first singles released ahead of “Death by Stereo.” The video, directed by Travis Rime Brooks, showcases a glorious summer day in Chicago, following three roller-skating sirens through the city, complete with champagne at Wrigley Field.

“We’ve gone back and forth for years about the idea of doing a video for one of our songs,” says Brendan Bayliss, the band’s founding singer-guitarist. “In the past, we never had the right concept to go with any of the songs we had considered. We didn’t want it to be cheesy or lame, and we wanted a video to really compliment the composition. Finally, we have the right song and the right visual to go along with it. ‘Booth Love’ is a sexy tune, and I think the video is pretty sexy, too.”

For a decade, Umphrey’s McGee has played a series of Chicago shows around New Year’s Eve; this year, they’ll be elsewhere for the dawn of 2012 — but they’ve started a new holiday tradition. The band will perform Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 25-26, at the Aragon Ballroom, joined by guests Beats Antique, Cornmeal and the Chicago Mass Choir. Tickets are $32.25 and still available via jamusa.com.
