Buck of the Week: Unplugged sheds

SHARE Buck of the Week: Unplugged sheds

On Feb. 9, Karl Scherer caught this buck with one side dropped at a Northwest Side forest preserve, and it reminded me I would like to talk with somebody who is good at finding sheds.

“If the bucks are shedding, spring can’t be far away,” he e-mailed.

He’s right on that. What’s funny is that other bucks still have racks. He had another wonderful shot of two bucks bedded down together on the same day.

I chose the half shed buck for BOTW: Unplugged, the weekly celebration of live big bucks around Chicago outdoors.

I would really like to talk with somebody who is good at finding sheds. If you know somebody like that, or have a BOTW: Unplugged nomination, e-mail straycasts@sbcglobal.net.
