DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2011

In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing and will then meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will hold a bilateral meeting and then an expanded bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

Following these meetings, the President and Prime Minister Harper will hold a joint press availability in the South Court Auditorium. This availability is open press. Please note, all riser space has been allocated. Clearance requests will only be granted until 11:00AM EST tomorrow. If you are not a White House hard pass holder, please submit clearance requests to press@who.eop.gov.

Also tomorrow, Gene Sperling, Director of the National Economic Council, and Austan Goolsbee, Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, will release “A Strategy for American Innovation: Securing Our Economic Growth and Prosperity,” an update to the administration’s innovation report from September 2009. The report will outline the importance of investing in innovation and the industries of the future to grow our economy, create jobs and win the future. Sperling and Goolsbee will discuss in the briefing room at 1:30 pm ET. Goolsbee has just released a new White House White Board explaining how Startup America, part of the innovation strategy, will help new businesses clear the hurdles to success. The report will be published online and available for public comments and feedback at 11:00 am ET on Friday at www.whitehouse.gov/innovation.
