WASHINGTON–First Lady Michelle Obama will oversee the third Spring planting of her White House kitchen garden on Wednesday. The last Spring planting was March 31, 2010.

UPDATE: The report below–from an Irish news site—that Mrs. Obama has requested shamrock seeds for the garden–is not true, according to Mrs. Obama spokesman Katie McCormick Lelyveld. “It didn’t originate from our office or the kitchen” she said. END UPDATE

And with St. Patrick’s Day this week–with a White House reception to mark the occasion– an Irish news outlet is reporting that Mrs. Obama has requested shamrock seeds for the garden.
