Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel, in meetings with aldermen, discussed cutting the 50-member Chicago City Council in half, Sun-Times City Hall reporter Fran Spielman reported in the Friday Sun-Times. Of course, that’s not a productive line of discussion when Emanuel has to put together a ruling coalition of aldermen after he takes office mid-May. In the Saturday Sun-Times Spielman reports, Emanuel explains–and never a plus when you have to explain what you really meant– he really was just feeling out how much the aldermen understood Chicago voters “appetite for change.”
