Emanuel mayoral inaugural committee--the MIC--holds first meeting

Mayor elect Rahm Emanuel’s “Chicago 2011” mayoral inauguration committee–the MIC–held its first meeting on Wednesday over at the Chicago Cut Steakhouse, 300 N. LaSalle.

Chicago 2011 was created by Emanuel to bankroll a series of events marking his May inauguration as mayor. The committee will fund citywide events not only for Emanuel, but in a bid for unity–and command and control–Emanuel’s MIC will also organize inauguration celebrations for the City Clerk and City Treasurer. The committee–Desiree Rogers is one of the members–is tasked with raising money and planning a variety of events spread over several days in May to mark the swearing in of the officials elected citywide: mayor, city treasurer and city clerk. Aldermen will, if they choose, be able to coordinate their swearing-in activities with the MIC.
