DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR
TUESDAY, APRIL 5, 2011
In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.
The President and the Vice President will then hold a meeting on Libya in the Situation Room. This meeting is closed press.
Later in the morning, the President and the Vice President will meet with Speaker John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Chairman Dan Inouye, and Chairman Hal Rogers to discuss ongoing negotiations on a funding bill to bring us through the end of the fiscal year. The President has made clear that we all understand the need to cut spending, and significant progress has been made in agreeing to all work off the same number – $73 billion in spending cuts in this year alone. With the process running short on time, the President will urge leaders to reach final agreement and avoid a government shutdown that would be harmful to our economic recovery. This meeting in the Oval Office is closed press.
Later, the President will meet with President Shimon Peres of Israel in the Oval Office. There will be a pool spray for still photographers only. The President and President Peres will then hold a working lunch in the Old Family Dining Room. This lunch is closed press.
In the afternoon, the President will meet separately with CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Daniel Yohannes and President and CEO of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation Elizabeth Littlefield in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.
