UPCOMING GUIDANCE FOR FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA
Monday, June 13 10:00 AM PDT – In response to First Lady Michelle Obama’s Joining Forces military families initiative, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, Directors Guild of America, Producers Guild of America, Screen Actors Guild and the Writers Guild of America West formed a Joining Forces Inter-Guild Task Force to provide creative and production support for Mrs. Obama’s program and to inform and inspire their memberships about the service of America’s military families. The Guilds are hosting the First Lady for a special Joining Forces event to discuss the stories and issues of today’s military families so that their experiences can be integrated into film, television and digital media. The entertainment industry has the opportunity to help Americans learn more about the unique challenges and needs of military families and to showcase the families’ strength, resilience and service to our nation. The Guilds have joined Mrs. Obama’s effort to ensure America’s military families have the support and recognition they have earned. This 10:00 AM event held at the Writers Guild Theater in Los Angeles is open press but the deadline to RSVP has passed.
Monday, June 13 3:00 PM PDT – First Lady Michelle Obama will film a special appearance on Nickelodeon’s iCarly to bring awareness to her Joining Forces military families initiative. iCarly’s lead character, Carly Shay, is the daughter of a Colonel currently serving overseas in the military and the episode will focus on Carly’s service to America as a member of a military family. This taping will be closed press.
Monday, June 13 7:00 PM PDT – First Lady Michelle Obama will deliver remarks at a Democratic National Committee luncheon in Pasadena and dinner in Los Angeles covered by print pools.
Tuesday, June 14, 9:40 AM PDT – First Lady Michelle Obama will deliver remarks at a Democratic National Committee breakfast in Oakland and luncheon in San Francisco covered by print pools.
Wednesday, June 15 1:00 PM – First Lady Michelle Obama will join congressional families and Americorps volunteers to build a playground at Imagine Southeast Public Charter School in Washington, D.C. with KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization that promotes activity for communities across the country. This project will be KaBOOM!’s 2,000th all-volunteer done-in-a-day playground and Mrs. Obama’s second time helping to build a playground with the organization. This event will be open press and media credential information can be received by emailing FirstLadyPress@who.eop.gov by 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 14.
Wednesday, June 15 – President Obama and the First Lady will host a picnic for members of Congress at the White House.
