Kankakee River: Shell ID

Can I get some help on IDing this?

It is elongated, with a pinkish/purplish tint on the inside. My daughter Sara found it on the shallow side of a sand bar at Aroma Park Friday afternoon on the mightby Kankakee River.

We found a bunch of shells, mostly of the usual sort, on our first time being able to wade the Kankakee. And it was borderline safe as it was.

But the water was wonderful. The sand bar growing ever larger is not so wonderful and indicative of many things.
