WASHINGTON–Mayor Rahm Emanuel is dipping into Los Angles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa operation for his new Chicago Police Department public affairs chief. Emanuel is hiring Sarah Hamilton, Villaraigosa’s senior press secretary, a Chicago native. The Daily News in Los Angeles had the story; I confirmed it with the Emanuel press office.

Statement from Superintendent Garry McCarthy, Chicago Police Department: “We are excited to welcome Sarah Hamilton to our communications team. She is returning to her hometown with a wealth of knowledge regarding the public sector, and her understanding of community engagement will be critical as the Police Department continues working with residents to make every neighborhood in our city safer.”
