DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR

FRIDAY, JULY 22, 2011

In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

Later in the morning, the President will participate in a Town Hall on the on-going efforts to find a balanced approach to deficit reduction at the University of Maryland, College Park. This event is open press.

In the afternoon, the President will meet with Prime Minister John Key of New Zealand in the Oval Office to discuss the close friendship and partnership between our two countries, our shared interest in stability, growth and effective regional institutions in the Asia Pacific, and our cooperation in addressing challenges like Afghanistan and the famine in East Africa. This meeting is closed press. Following the meeting, the President and Prime Minister Key will deliver statements to the press in the Oval Office. These statements are pooled press.

Later in the afternoon, the President will meet with Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.

Later, the President will meet with Ambassador Karl Eikenberry and Mrs. Eikenberry to thank the Ambassador for his service in Afghanistan and throughout his career. This meeting in the Oval Office is closed press
