In the morning, the President will deliver remarks on the next round of a coordinated national program to improve fuel efficiency for Model Years 2017-2025 cars and light-duty trucks at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. This program, which builds on the historic agreement achieved by this administration for Model Years 2012-2016, will result in significant cost savings for consumers at the pump, dramatically reduce oil consumption, cut pollution and create jobs. This event is open press.

In the afternoon, the President will meet with President Boni Yayi of Benin, President Alpha Cond of Guinea, President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger, and President Alassane Ouattara of Cote d’Ivoire. The meeting provides an opportunity to underscore the Administration’s support for emerging democracies, to highlight our partnerships with these countries, and to discuss the building of strong democratic institutions, economic development, and a range of regional issues.
