Action sports star Travis Pastrana planned to pull double duty this weekend, competing in X Games 17 and also making his NASCAR Nationwide debut.

Those plans will have to be abandoned after he crashed while trying to land a corked 720 attempt Thursday night in the Moto X Best Trick competition.

Pastrana broke his right foot and ankle in the fall, according to medical officials. He was discharged from the hospital and will require surgery at a later date.
