Next Monday — that would be Oct. 15 — Paula Abdul will pick up the ballroom scoring paddles when she joins “Dancing with the Stars” for a guest star stint as an official judge. It will be her first time judging ballroom dance on the show, which has made use of guest judges in the past.

Abdul served as a judge on “American Idol” from 2002 to 2009; she was also on the judging panel for the first season of “X Factor” until she exited that series earlier this year.
