Rahm ’em…

Is Mayor Rahm Emanuel starting to line up ducks for a bigger job in the future? A presidential run someday?

â—†Is that why he is pitching stories to the New York Times first for national play…i.e. his announcement Thursday of a $7.3 billion mega overhaul of city infrastructure…which he had been feeding out piecemeal to the Chicago press?

â—†Is that why he is helping raise funds for Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett in hopes Barrett might win a likely recall race against Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker?

Cop shop …

It’s ironic: Chicago’s former top cop Jody Weis, an ex-FBI agent who became a lightning rod for criticism by the rank and file, did not show up to receive a commendation for good police work Tuesday at police headquarters.

â—†To wit: Sneed is told Police Supt. Garry McCarthy was on hand to hand Weis the award. But Weis was a no-show.

â—†The citation: While on night patrol in 2008, Weis helped subdue an armed suspect who’d just robbed a Subway restaurant and was responsible for a rash of robberies.â—†The situation: A ribbon and a certificate will be mailed to Weis, a police spokesman said.

â—†The occupation: Weis, who recently quit as head of the Chicago Crime Commission, is spending time with his wife and figuring out what he wants to do next.

Dugout data …

Is Sneed one brick short of a load, or does my memory serve me correctly: Isn’t movie executive Peter Gruber, the mega money man who is part of the Magic Johnson group buying the Los Angeles Dodgers, a former hairdresser who used to date singer Barbara Streisand?

$$$$$ …

Deceased singer Amy Winehouse had an estate worth $6.75 million, which was reduced to $4.7 million after taxes, all of which will go to her parents, Mitch and Janis Winehouse, because the singer never made a will. Her former husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, gets nothing.Elton & Whitney …

Singer Elton John, 65, who was treated for various addictions in Chicago decades ago, told the Brit press recently he took so much cocaine it’s a “miracle” he didn’t end up dying like singer Whitney Houston. He claimed he kicked his drug habit in 1990.

It’s Miller Time …

Sneed’s necessary reading: A shout out to Rich Miller’s popular Capitol Fax for reporting the Illinois House voted unanimously Wednesday to criminalize sexual conduct with a corpse.

Tiger Talk …

Just when golf legend Tiger Woods seems to be getting back into the swing of things – comes word three of his former porn princesses are releasing a new X-rated movie based on their dalliances with El Tigre. Release date: April 3rd. Gads.

Jordan Jots …

Chicago Bear Brian Urlacher is on the long list of celebs attending Michael Jordan’s 11th Annual Celebrity Golf Outing in Las Vegas this week. Sports stellars Wayne Gretzky, Ken Griffey Jr., Toni Kukoc, Mario Lemieux, Sugar Ray Leonard and Greg Maddux will also be on hand, as well as love birds Eddie Cibrian and LeAnn Rimes.

Tit for Tat …

First at bat: GOP presidential hopeful Mitt Romney slams Russia as a “geopolitical foe.”

Next up: An op-ed response posted on the web site of the Russian newspaper “Pravda,” which states: “Electing Mitt Romney as the next President of the United States of America would be like appointing a serial pedophile as a kindergarten teacher, a rapist as a janitor at a girls’ dormitory or a psychopath with a fixation on knives as a kitchen hand. His comments on Russia are a puerile attempt at making the grand stage and boy, did he blow it.”

There ya go.

Sneedlings …

I Spy: Chicago Bull’s Bob Love at Deuce’s and the Diamond Club this week…Today’s birthdays: Eric Clapton, 67; Warren Beatty, 75, and Celine Dion, 44.
