The second full day of the Republican National Convention serves up another night packed with speeches, culminating in a much-anticipated address from vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan.
The top of the show belongs to Kentucky, when Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and Senator Rand Paul each take the podium after the RNC convenes shortly after 7 p.m. local time.
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) kicks off the 8 o’clock hour, which also includes remarks from senators John Thune (R-S.D.) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio). Minnesota Gov. and former presidential hopeful Tim Pawlenty speaks just after 9 p.m., as does former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will speak just after 10 p.m. Rice criticized the Obama White House’s approach to foreign policy on “CBS This Morning” Wednesday, saying, “There is no doubt the United States’ voice has been muted.” Rice said she thinks Mitt Romney, if elected, would instead embrace American exceptionalism and “lead from in front.”
Vice presidential nominee U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) will deliver the evening’s last speech. In perhaps a preview of this evening’s speech, Ryan told fans during a Monday rally in his hometown of Janesville, Wis., that voters “have a big choice to make” and that this election would set America’s course for a generation, according to the New York Times.
