The Bears finally filled D.J. Williams’ roster spot Friday, promoting linebacker Jerry Franklin to the active squad for Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins.

Williams suffered a season-ending pectoral injury in the team’s last game, a win against the Giants. The team has known for one week that he would not return.

Franklin played the last three games of last season for the Bears. He’ll likely play special teams Sunday, coach Marc Trestman said.
