But the Yankees moved to dash Theo Epstein’s dream for the man to turn around a century of misfortune. So, as Gordon Wittenmeyer reports, the only thing sure about the Cubs’ managerial search right night is the complete uncertainty surrounding the process.

While the folks at 1060 W. Addison work to make a move toward clarity, the Internet has stepped in, as it so often does, to help. Thursday afternoon, the Twitter topic #MysteryCubsManagerialCandidates cropped up. Most of the suggestions probably aren’t that practical. But then again, after more than 100 years of futility, maybe thinking outside the box is just the thing the team needs.
